Elementary education is a vast and complex engineering today. It could not gain satisfactory efficacy if without support and cooperation from the society. Being a special and important power in children education, family should cooperate more and better with school, and home-school cooperation will directly influence school education. In the history of American education, educational reformers have been advocating home-school cooperation from the foundation of public school. After the World War II, especially since Mid-1960s, home-school cooperation has been a focus of studies and reforms in elementary education in order to solve the crises of public school. Now, the collaboration between home and school involves widely in America, it not only has various forms and colorful contents, but also has systematized and standardized. Furthermore, it facilitates the reforms of elementary education and the socialization of education. This dissertation gives a historical overview of home-school cooperation in America, mainly introduces and interprets its situation and features after the World War II, and analyzes dialectically three main factor that influence the collaboration between home and school . Meanwhile some suggestions are put forward based on the valuable experience of America so as to enhance our home-school cooperation.
