This article systematically discusses the relationship between mathematical metacognition and mathematical study of middle school student. And it reveals the importance of mathematical metacognition in the intelligence and ability cultivations of the student. Moreover, the article advances some propositions to cultivate student s metacognition ability. And it adopts the way of combining qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis. Also it analyzes the data of investigation and experiment quantitatively.This article includes six parts.Part one: The sketch of mathematical metacognition theory. It discusses the development of metacognition ideology. And it talks about the definition and structure of mathematical metacognition. Also it introduces the relationships among all parts of mathematical metacognition structure. This article explains the characters of mathematical metacognition and also presents the achievement that related to metacognition.Part two: The importance of mathematical metacognition in the ability cultivation of the student. This part discusses the importance of mathematical metacognition from three fields: One is the intelligence cultivation of middle school student, other is the ability of problem solving in mathematics, and the rest is the learning strategy.Part three: The level investigation of middle school student's mathematical metacognition. Based on the investigation paper, the article analyzes the level of middle school student's mathematical metacognition and the relationship between metacognition and age. It also analyzes the relationship between metacognition and score of mathematics. It discusses the result of investigation and makes some conclusions.Part four: The cultivation of middle school student's mathematical metacognition. The article discusses the practicability and urgency on thecultivation of the student's mathematical metacognition according to the analysis of the investigation. And it puts forward some suggestions to develop the student's metacognition ability.Part five: Experiment. It explains the method, process of the experiment and also the experimental controls. It comes to the conclusions by the analysis of the experimental data.Part six: Conclusion. It puts forward some problems that need to be solved further.
