With the analysis of a great amount of literature and with personal experience in chemistry teaching practice, the author of this essay puts forward the idea of IT-based Chemistry Learning. The author investigates the characteristics of IT-based Chemistry Learning, analyzes the challenges it presents to the pupils, and studies the keys to solve the challenges. The paper consists of five parts:Part I Preface: The actualities of IT- based Chemistry Learning.This part not only affirms the achievements made by the chemistry educators through the instruction reform, but also analyzes the inevitable shortages existing in IT- based Chemistry Learning. One shortage, for instance, is that the particular emphasis is usually laid on technological integration, while seldom knowing that the integration is also a concept. Another one is, much emphasis is focused on teaching modes, while few research works on student's learning style, learning tactics, etc.Part II IT- based Chemistry Learning.This part discusses the core of IT- based Chemistry Learning by ways of analyzing the concepts of the integration of the information technology and the subject teaching. The forming of IT- based Chemistry Learning style is regarded here as the crucial goal of IT- based Chemistry Learning. The author presents the characteristics of IT- based Chemistry Learning from different aspects, such as learning target, learning content, learning means and learning style, etc.Part III The challenge pupils face in IT- based Chemistry Learning.From four aspects including the learning idea, information literacy, learning style, and learning evaluation, the author analyzes what sorts of challenges pupils have to face.Part IV How to be a successful learner in IT- based Chemistry Learning.With the examples of the cases, the author brings forward the tactics to go over the challenge which is discussed in Part III.Part V Chemistry teachers guide students to succeed in IT- based Chemistry Learning.In this part, the author discusses the importance of chemistry teachers in IT- based Chemistry Learning and analyzes how could they make the guidance and the assistance, with a teaching case, in details.
