Industrial education at the end of Qing Dynasty was developing while the modernization of Chinese education was continually going deep. It originated from Chinese traditional thought of using knowledge to manage state affairs, but it is more important that it absorbed the different kind of western educational ingredients. So we can say, industrial education at the end of Qing Dynasty developed based on learning from western countries and Japan and using their experience for reference. The cognizant deepening to the West from implements to systems helped to bring about embryo, systematism and more profound and extensive development in industrial education at the end of Qing Dynasty. Meanwhile, its development ,to a certain extent, made attempts on Chinese traditional education system and helped people to change their concept of education, talents and values. It also sped up modernization of Chinese education.Except the introduction, the whole thesis consists of 4 parts. Part I introduces the stage of industrial education's embryo. Part II is about the introduction and establishment of industrial education system. In modern China, the early ministers stationed abroad, the early bourgeois reformists, the officials going to Japan to study Japanese education and the World of Education, the first educational periodical of modern China, introduced western and Japanese industrial education system which provided a vast amount of reference materials for the establishment of industrial education system at the end of Qing Dynasty. So Renyin Education System and Guimao Education System could make detailed regulations for industrial education and then, the first industrial education system came into being in modern China. In Part III, the thesis deals with the profound and extensive development of industrial education after the establishment of its system, mainly including the development of industrial schools, the appearance of female industrial schools and the rise of studying abroad trend for industrial education. Part IV is the conclusion. In this part, the thesis concludes the historical experiences and lessons in the whole process of industrial education at the end of Qing Dynasty. In the end, I hope the thesis can give us some inspirations and provide references for the present vocational education of our country.
