Credit system, which lays stress on developing students' self-study ability andindividuality, has been quickly and widely adopted all over the world since its birthin 1872. China, as a country with a large number of institutions of higher learning,has been promoting the credit system reform in a creative manner. However, thereform may not be so smooth and successful as expected due to the following threereasons: the lasting negative effects of educational policies implemented in theplanned economy era; lack of clear understandings towards the reform; theunfavorable interior and exterior reform environment. These problems are moreprominent in the local universities since these universities don't have suchadvantages as rich management experiences, strong economic power, abundantteaching resources and good reputation that those national-level universities havehad. Thus, their credit system is certain to be hindered by more negative factors.Under such conditions, the local university should combine credit reform with itsactual conditions to explore the reform plan suitable for its own sustainabledevelopment. The strategy of developing the university by leaps and bounds as wellas scientific credit system teaching reform should be adopted to promote the creditsystem reform and the university's overall management level to make it more suitedto the needs of its sustainable development as well as the socialist market economysystem in the respect of personnel training objective, training plan and trainingmethods... |
