This paper is divided into five parts: Problems Introduced; Autonomous Learning Theoretical Study; Present Study and Analysis on Autonomous Learning in Professional Middle Schools; and Education Strategy of Promoting Biological Autonomous Learning; the Result of Promoting and Analysis of some Problems.Part â… . Expounding the practical significances of developing a new Autonomous Learning education model. First, the one-way teaching approach associated with traditional education has been characterized as "emphasizing teaching, but neglecting learning" and "more on knowledge, but less on ability", which makes the class lack of excitement and diversity, and does not support the true goals of education. Therefore, education reform is definitely needed. Promoting and developing a new interactive education model between teachers and students, which was led by students' self-motivation and teachers' guidance, would be the urgent needs for education reform.Next, Modern science and technology has developed in an express pattern and the society has changed dramatically since the World War II, especially the 21st century is an integrated society fulfilled with ongoing rapid culture and economic development. All of them encourage everybody to continue education through his or her lifetime, and autonomous learning is the most effective way to achieve this type of lifelong education, and is the key and basis to keep continuous education and self-development in real lifelong education practice.In particularly, autonomous learning would help in resolving such passive learning fashion currently found in professional schools. In fact, students in many professional schools have been bored with learning. Even though it is partially caused by the less pressure of admitting professional schools than of admitting colleges and lack of self-motivation, educational background and learning methods, it is highly due to the problems associated with traditional education, and therefore, themost effective and efficient way to change students' learning attitude is to prompt autonomous learning, to emphasize the importance of learning interests, to encourage students being self-motivated to learning, and to let them personally feel the fun and joy of learning. All in a word, developing such a new Autonomous Learning education model has very high practical significances.Part â…¡. Autonomous Learning theoretical study.First, the scopes of Autonomous Learning is defined in terms of its concepts and characteristics. There are two senses, broad and narrow, of autonomous learning. This paper is focusing on its narrow sense, which means a learning style that the learning objective is self-motivated, self-made and self-controlled under the schools' overall education goals and under the teachers' interactive guidance. The basic characteristics of autonomous learning are: Ability, Self-motivation, Independence, and Self-controlled. Ability is the premise of autonomous learning. Self-motivation is the most active and basic factor for autonomous learning. Independence is the soul of autonomous learning. Self-controlled is the key to learn effectively and efficiently.Secondly, the two basic theories of Autonomous Learning are further discussed: Autonomous Education theory and Constructivist Instructional Learning theory. Autonomous education theory is focusing on education reform from the traditional teaching pattern totally controlled by teachers, which makes students the masters of their learning. Autonomous learning makes this theory into practice by promoting self-motivated learning where students play the key roles in their learning. Constructivism theory focuses on the correlations and dynamics of knowledge. It suggests that learning be active selection, understanding and processing of information based upon the student's knowledge structure, and it encourages that teachers are helpers or guidance to students in their self-development and self-improvement.
