Vocational Education In Minority Nationalities Area In Culture Change

The dissertation makes a field study of the vocational education in Mao County, Sichuan Province, which is the only Qiang Nationality Autonomous County in China and analyses the problems and connecting causes of the vocational education in Mao County with emics and etics. Also, this thesis puts the vocational education in Mao County into the background of culture change and compares it with the vocational education in other countries to put forward proper tactics to carry out the vocational education in Mao County.The dissertation finds out some problems existing in the vocational education in Mao County through investigation which are: a) some unreasonable management system hurting the teachers' vigor; b) the specialties being old and monotous and unsuitable to the progress in the local economy; c) the teaching content being out of time, the teaching quality being poor; d) the shortage of educational fund hindering the advancement of vocational education; e) there being a sharp drop in the amount of students. Through the analysis of causes of these problems, this dissertation put forward the following countermeasures: a) increasing the connection between industries and science and technology and vocational education; b) conceiving of modern education idea and attaching importance to the vocational education; c) constructing proper education policy and working policy to give a right space to the development of vocational education; d) vocational education schools being to explore different models to develop vocational education, reform management methods and raise the teaching quality; e) drawing up suitable law and policy to promote the development of the vocational education in minority nationalities area.
