Resource Environment & Tourism College Capital Normal University, ChinaNowadays, Green Schools are considered as an effective model of schools for a sustainable future among many countries in the world. In December 1996, the former State Environmental Protection Bureau of China and the former State Education Commission of China jointly issued the National Environmental Publicity and Education Action Essentials (1996-2010). The essentials mandated the establishment of Green Schools to foster environmental education (EE) in schools, including kindergarten, primary, secondary, and tertiary education levels. To promote the development of Green Schools, the State Environmental Protection General Bureau and the Ministry of Education awarded a national commendation to Green Schools in 2000 and now present this recognition to National Green Schools every 2 years. In 2000, National Green Schools Awards were granted to 105 schools. Two years later, there are other 179 schools granted as the National Green Schools. And up to now, there are more than 13000 Green Schools in different levels in the whole China.According to the practice for many years, the establishment of Green Schools facilitated the implement of EE in primary and middle schools in China, with different detailed criteria among the provinces. While many schools and researchers have devoted into the establishment and research of Green Schools, less has been done to form an integrated implemental framework of EE in Green Schools.This study clued on EE with a whole school approach and holistic view for a sustainable future, and based on the international and nation's Green Schools Criteria or Guideline and the investigation of 2003National Green Schools, and these data have been analyzed and summed up systematically in order to establishing the implemental framework of EE for China Green Schools.The implemental framework of EE for China Green Schools is concluded as follow: Firstly, Green School management's influences involve (1) the layout of implement of EE; (2) administrators' responsibility; (3) school's input. Secondly, the implement of EE curriculums involve (1) the syllabus in schools, provinces & nations; (2) integration and infiltration of curriculum; (3) teaching materials;(4) the main teaching methods and strategies;(5) teaching places and forms. Thirdly, the implement of EE extra-curriculum involve (1) intra-campus activities; (2) outra-campus activities; (3) EE teaching and practice bases outside; (4) the situation of the involved projects; Finally, the integrative benefits involve (1) the environmental consciousnesses, attitudes and behavours; (2) environmental awards; (3) environmental publications and videos;(4) relationships with other school constructions.The purposes of study are to present the situation of China Green Schools and to give a referenced framework for the parts of implement of EE in Green Schools and to provide the first-hand data for China Green Schools Guideline revising. At the same time, it can also give some advices and feasible strategies for all going-on Green Schools for a sustainable future.
