West Development And Several Thoughts About Reforms And Development Of Higher Education In Yanbian

The west in our country is broad, which covers about 68% of the whole land .Because the natural condition is bad and the society is behind in history ,the economic development of the west falls behind that of the east. West development is a great strategic policy that our country enforces in order to quicken western development and prosperity. It does good to lesson the difference between the east and the west, and promote economy development of the whole country harmoniously; It benefits the realization of the 3rd strategic aim smoothly ;It benefits the national unity and state stability. The west is not only a geographic concept but also a political one. It denotes the regions behind in economy, culture and education. In 2001,our country agrees that Yanbian will enjoy the west development policy and this gives historical chance to the economy development in Yanbian. The economic development depends on the progress of science and technology, and the base of which lies in education, so higher education plays important role in Yanbian development.Form the view of west development, the article inquires into the several problems about higher educational reforms and development in Yanbian. First, it elaborates the position and effort of higher education in Yanbian development. Second, it analyses that the policy will bring chance and challenge to the development of higher education in Yanbian. Then, it introduces the achievement that higher education in Yanbian has made, and brings forward the existing problems. At last, it puts forward several suggestions about reforms and development of higher education in Yanbian.
