| China's higher education and its outer environment have greatly changed with the Party's keystone of work having turned to economic construction, however, moral education in higher institutions hasn't cast off its passive situation yet, mainly manifesting on "four not equals".Last century, the appearance of "the 89 Political Disturbance" got the comrades in moral education field to reconsider moral education in higher institutions. In view of passive situation of moral education in higher institutions caused by the "leftish" effect for a long period, Professor LI Hong-yi definitelyput forward a new concept-"moral education with engineeringmethod"(MEWEM) the first time.MEWEM has become a kind of practice model in moral education field up to now, but it's a pity that very few people have ever done some theoretical researches on it. It's possible to study MEWEM, and the reasons are as follows: the successful practice of Engineering Method in other social fields and it's theoretical achievements must be of some use to the study of MEWEM; There are some intrinsic law: an eternal theme in the content, certain routine ways on the carriers, many years of MEWEM practice in part of higher institutions, especially Wuhan University of Technology(WUT), being precious "materials" for studying MEWEM. To study MEWEM is the need of knowledge economy age, executing quality education and the development of moral education itself.MEWEM is a kind of method moral education with "psychology phenomenon" being its key point. It means to study and deal with problems concerning moral education with engineering method, make moral education a common pattern, realize the teachers and the students' mutual influence, explore the students' potentiality and accelerate their development comprehensively by means of synthesizing, creation, and practice.Its objective is to try hard to explore people's potentiality and accelerate their overall development. Its value lies in deep "conversation heart to heart, communication sentiment to sentiment, enlightenment wisdom to wisdom". Itsfunction lies not only in "service" and "subordination", but also in "casting" and "innovation". Its essence lies in synthesizing, practice and creation. The theoretical basis of MEWEM should be Marxism, while the straight theoretical basis should be Marx's theory on people's comprehensive development.The implementing law of MEWEM is: mutual harmony and unity between education and self-education, coordinating and controlling all kinds of affecting factors and making them unified and most optimized, keeping proper tension between education request and the development of the students' psychological quality.The basic train of thought on founding the common pattern of MEWEM is to take "net" theory as methodological presupposition, construction of teachers' moral as basis and carrier construction as an emphasis.The core of the "net" theory is "whole thinking, systematic controlling". Facing diversified social reality and possible space of people's psychological development, integrating strength of the headrope and flexibility of the mesh can play a good role in educating, instruction, and management, and can also exhibit function in promoting and cultivating people's harmonious and healthy development physically and mentally. Construction of teachers' moral lies in a basic position in moral education in higher institutions, the content of which includes construction of politics and psychology, construction of moral quality and construction of institution,MEWEM pattern should rely on all possible carriers, including modern public media, courses, management, campus community culture, activities, sentiment and manhood.MEWEM's essence of "synthesizing, creation and practice" makes the study of MEWEM a long way to go.
