This essay was written based on history investigation, literature investigation, researching method. From the development process of Macao private schools, the factors that affected the forming of the characteristics of the administration of today's non-profit private schools in Macao can be understood. Only by understanding how it is formed can the problem being pinpointed so that suggestions can be made to improve.According to investigations carried out, Macao's non-profit private schools have the following management characteristics:1.Private schools are highly autonomous which includes management. Each school has its own mission, organization background and its resources, resulting in the principal as the core of administration.2.Administration is mainly based on the past experiences and social relationships.3.Administration is commercialised. Each private school competes with each other to fight for its own existence, reputation and revenue, thus directing administration towards commercialism.Since Macao is no longer the colony of Portugal after the handover to China, Macao's education should have experienced some changes in its quality. With private schools providing 93% of the education service in Macao, their role in Macao'seducation should be respected and supported. At the same time, the pre-existing problems of the private schools should also be solved so as to respond to the changes and development of the society.1.Increase the management professionalism level of the administration board of the private schools, especially the principal.2.1mprove the openness of private schools' administration, allowing parents and teachers to take part in schools' administration.3.Enhance teachers training, raising the teaching quality. Provide training to teachers with minimal interference to teachers' rest. Training should be targeted to quality training, instead of formality. Establish teaching review system so as to increase teachers' morale.4.Enhance positive communication between teachers. Sensible division of workload among teachers so that the teachers spend more time discussing problems experienced in teaching. Organize teachers into groups to prepare teaching materials, sit in on a class, and to share teaching experience. Arrange visits to schools in foreign countries to understand and adopt the advance teaching experience.5.Set-up school scrutiny system to evaluate each school's characteristic, their merits and deficiencies. The autonomy of Macao schools is high, each school has its own characteristics and Macao does not have a centre examination system. These contribute to the subjective view of the pubic and rely on social perception to evaluate schools. Through the school scrutiny can a more objective, scientific way be utilized to evaluate schools. This also enables the schools' administration boards to realise their insufficiency so as to make improvements.6.Computerise administration so as to increase management quality level. Introduction of computers to executive administration, such as teachers and students duty shifts,students' result statistic reports, teaching staffs' personnel management etc.
