As the development of economics, rural education has been paid more and more attention. The teachers'issues are the keys to solve rural educational problems. The level of the teacher professional development restricts the level of rural education. Rural teacher professional development has been the focus of the educational decision makers, the teachers and the scholar at home and abroad."2010-2020 long-term plans for education reform and development"states briefly, in order to improve the quality of rural compulsory; we should see rural teachers as keys. It's necessary to ask teachers develop their profession while new courses are being implemented on the rural areas.According to the study of scholar at home and abroad, using the method of questionnaire interview and documents, the author researched the rural junior teacher profession. Taking the rural junior teachers in Henan Puyang as a case, the author surveys the current situation, insufficient and issues of rural English teachers'professional development on less development area. At the base of the study, the writer raise the advices to solve these issues, in order to let the decision makers and the scholars pay more attention to rural junior teacher and satisfy their requirements. Furthermore the writer interviewed a teacher and described her procedure on teacher professional development from new teacher to expert, expecting it can give the rural junior English teacher aids.There are four parts in the article. In the first part, the background of study, the methods and some concepts are given. Beside, the author concludes the achievements received at home and abroad. The second part includes the making and carrying of questionnaire, analysis of the survey results, the impact factors of teacher professional development and so on. The theory of teacher professional development as a guide based the methods of listening, questioner and interview to study rural teachers. Choosing parts of rural junior English teachers as the study objects, the author comprehensive analysis the status of their professional development, issues, factors, and so on. The third part mainly describes a rural English teacher's experience on the process of her professional development. She has been worked more than twenty years in her school. In the last part, the author discusses the strategies of rural junior English teacher professional development.This article mainly talks about the current situation, influencing factors and the strategies on the professional development of the rural junior English teacher in less developed area. The target of the article is letting rural English teachers know more about the states of professional development, finding out their professional development goals, and providing reference to promote their professional development more quickly.
