"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…we had everything before us, we had nothing before us…".What Charles Dickens wrote, in his famous novel A Tale of Two Cities, vividly represents the feelings of the residents of Villege Huangjiatuan, under the current urbanization process. As one of the benefits of urbanization, the farmers in the past now become office workers. They can live a life of city people, which they have been longing for years. Meanwhile this is the worst of times, as the living style that has been passed through generations is changed. And the skills they lived by for decades become useless. Then many of them become extremely anxious and uneasy, facing the challenges and the unknown future. As a result, in order to seek a peaceful life, families and clans come to fight with the invasion of modernization. This conflict between tradition and modern life reflects on every aspect in life, from clothing, food to sprit. However, this conflict is only a miniature of the many villages in the combination area of city and country. In this paper, the trend for the traditional clans are discussed and the result of the conflict is analyzed, through the deep discuss of the vicissitudes happened in Village Huangjiatuan. This paper includes 5 chapters. In the first chapter the natural and cultural landscapes are mainly described: the special environment where the folk customs generated and the clans in the village formed and developed. In the second chapter, changes in living style, production, authority and etc. of the Huang lineage are analyzed. Through the comparison and analysis of the conflict between clans with modernization, material and spiritual changes are summarized. Next, the reasons that cause these changes are analyzed in several aspects, such as politics, economy and ecology. By psychological examination and analysis on the clan members, high level inquiry is made on the cause of the short-term"renaissance"and the conflicts related with the clans. As every occurrence and development of folklore has its own mechanisms, clan is no exception. The change on the psychological and social values of the clan members is the essential reason.Chapter IV showed the meaning and role of existence of clans, by comparing features of the contemporary clans with the traditional ones, in order to lead the conclusion of the trend for the clans in urbanization. In the last part, the trend for the clans is given, with the summary of the lifecycle of the conflicts.
