The High SchoolInformation Technology Curriculum Standard and the MathCurriculum Standardpublished in 2003 both specified the need of algorithmknowledge in electivemodule 1 "Algorithm and program design" and the compulsorymoduleMath 3 "algorithm preliminary" respectively. But the programminglanguagescurrently used for teaching algorithms are mainly for commercial developers, such asVisual Basic, C++ and Java. They are relatively verbose and difficultto learn. The SmallBasic programming language has favorable properties likeless technical details, gentle learning slope, easy to visualize algorithm. This paper explored a systematicway of instructional design for teachingalgorithms using Small Basic, and how toincorporate social interaction viaOneNote as part of its teaching process.Thisarticle is divided into six modules: Chapter One introduces thebackground ofthe research, the objectives, the purpose and the significance of thisstudy. Italso describes the framework of the paper and the research methods;Chapter Twoanalyzes the current challenges in teaching algorithm courses in highschool; summarize the algorithm teaching objectivesrequired by the curriculum;describes the subjects that teach algorithm in thecurrent high school; analyze thefocus and difficulties of teaching, and a literaturereview of relevant research onalgorithm teaching; Chapter three, for thechallenges summarized in chapter two, proposed technologies to meet the challengespresented; illustrated the basic ideasand the systematic instructional designof algorithm; using Small Basic to visualizealgorithm; provides algorithmsteaching sample chapter; the fourth chapter, introduced an review of theliterature in interactive teaching, and then describes thetechnological properties of OneNote, then proposed OneNoteinteractive teachingplatform technological solution‐ the method of constructingan interactive platformfor teaching based on OneNote shared notebook; thefifth chapter discusses variousissues encountered when designing the algorithminstruction; the last chapter is asummary for the full paper and an outlookfor future studies.
