Nonprofit Management Supporting Organizations And Urban Governance

With the background of China's urbanization and the reform of the system of its social management, the function of social organizations in terms of social governance is becoming more and more important. Within all the social organizations in China, the nonprofit management supporting organizations (MSOs) has been developing fast and earning the attention of the academic community and the whole society. It is significant to have an in-depth and detailed study of MSOs.The paper takes NPI Social Organizations Development Center (NPI) as a case study and focuses on the business of nonprofit organizations' incubator and community services. The paper analyzes how MSOs support other organizations participating urban governance in Shanghai.The paper points out that compared with other social organizations, the unique effect of MSOs mainly lies in two aspects. First, they has been exploring a new way of incubate social organizations. Second, MSOs has connected government, communities and other organizations. Then the paper indicates that factors of the success of NPI includes government's empower, social demands and personal skills of leaders. The establishment of NPI coincides with the social reform and transformation of government role, and its business accord with the government's need and other social organizations' request, so the success of NPI is necessity.
