To launch position management in universities is the requirement of deepening the reform of personnel system, promoting the talent category management as well as reforming the income distribution system in universities. It also possesses a significant meaning in the convert of employment mechanism, the transform from identity management to position management and the arousal of the faculty's intensity and creativity, so as to the development of universities. As an innovation in college personnel management system, position management may confront certain issue and difficulty during the process of its launch. Therefore, we need to keep questing and perfecting it both in theory and in practice.Taking teachers position management in S University as its research target, the essay reviews the historic process of professional title evaluation system S University. It introduces the situation of firstly launching position management in details and analyzes problems and reasons exist in the launch. By using the knowledge in human resource management and organizational behavior, on the basis of relevant experience in position management home and abroad, the essay deeply conducts teachers position management in S University as well.According to the research, some problems have been found, including the limitation of the reform which is caused by considering greatly about the existing faculty and the transition policy named No reduction in salary, setting post according to people, identity management, lack of category evaluation mechanism and the unsoundness of evaluation system and exit system. In response to these issues, the priority is to enhance the policy instruction of position management. The author also puts forward countermeasures like organizing reasonable position setting instruction and position employment policy. In order to fulfill the thorough convert from identity management to position management, we're required to improve the existing management mode through the satisfaction of college strategy development, the concept of teacher-centered and the perfection of exit institution. Thus, the win-win situation of promoting the development and talents in colleges can be achieved.
