The time from late 19th to early 20th century had significant meaning to American, during which dramatic changes took place. Especially in the 30 years after civil war, the economy of USA developed so rapidly to top capitalist countries. During this time, USA transformed from agricultural to industrial countries and its social life focus shifted from rural to urban area. Accompanied with the rapid change and development in social and economical aspects, many social problems emerged, such as the drawing of migration waves, the breeding of sluts and the appearance of crimes the other factors leading to social instability. These problems arose reflection and action of many enlightened personages, and various kinds of civic groups and personal charity events emerged as a result. As the pioneer of social settlement movement, Hull-house was born under complicated social background. As the founder of Hull-house, Jane Adams herself experienced some subtle setbacks. Born in a noble family and reared with the thought of serving public by her father, Jan Adams witnessed the great success in succoring and educating the poor accomplished by Toynbee Hall, therefore she made up her mind to devote herself to the course of seeking for welfare for American poor.Established in 1889, Hull house located at the 19th zone of Chicago, with distinctive characteristics of educating and social welfare, aiming to serve local society and the poor. There were kindergarten, youth center and kinds of adults clubs and training seminars providing classes like English for migrants, Shakespeare club, Plato club, cooking, sewing, children care and handicraft. Besides, there were facilities like stadium, library, museum, theatre, clinic and accommodation, which made it a comprehensive center that integrated education, amusement and services. At the same time, during the founding of Hull house, Jan Adams developed her unique educational philosophy, the so-called socialized education philosophy, which was set up on the base of her experience of social works in Hull house, focused on how to educate new uptown American migrants and had significant social meaning. This socialized education was a multi-leveled concept. It meant to help common people adapt with the transformation from agricultural to industrial society, develop a community sense to built good neighbor relationship and help each other and make the working class and intellectuals to develop common value into American society. This article analyses different socialized education activities focused on different social groups and educational concept, reconstructs the vivid situation of socialized education at that time and depicts a clear picture of the specific concept and way to develop socialized education, which has a positive meaning for our education work and other social undertaking to adapt. The socialized education developed by Hull house enriched peoples inner life, confirmed peoples doctrine to keep struggling, inaugurated a new era in social work and thus has consistent and profound influence in USA and across the world.
