With increased emphasis upon the multi-culture and the concept of "education based on student development "and as the improvement of essential-qualities-oriented education, student association activities have been becoming enriched and varied dramatically. Student association is becoming a significant channel for students to extend vision and promote communication skills as well as an important part of life in junior middle school. Even with these evolution, however, student association in junior middle schools, in general, have not been emphasized enough, especially in terms of their key characteristics of self-education and self-management.Through literature review, observation of practice and comparative study on student association activities, the thesis try to demonstrate the overall view of student association in junior middle schools, based on the practice in Tao Yuan middle school.Based on the analysis on conception of student association, this thesis firstly study and clarify the development of student association at home and abroad。Secondly introduce the definition of student association in junior middle school by comparing junior student association with the second classroom, student union and classes,and clarify the characteristic of student association in junior middle schools in our country.Thirdly discuss the effect of student association activities on school culture and development of students in physical and mental, clarify the educational value of developing the personality,independence,leadship and socialization for middle school students and review the management,facilities,finance and evaluation and incentive mechanism of junior middle school student association, and then bring up suggestion on sustainable development of the student association based on the practice in Tao Yuan Junior Middle School, in order to strengthen the direction to the construction of junior middle school student association. Finally, rethink the purpose and direction of the student association in junior middle school, give the suggestion on how to promote students to participate in student association activities and on training of teachers to organize student association activities and emphasize the unique educational function of student association, which is a key role of combining school and society to lead students to go from the student association to society.
