The Analysis On Reasons Of College Students' Participation In College Student Association

The college student association is come into existence based on the collective hobby and interest or corporate responsibility of college student. College students take part in student association of their own accord. In the context of the further strengthen and improvement of Ideological and Political Education work for college student countrywide, the college student association is playing an unprecedented important part. But while the college student association gains some achievements, we should notice that there are some problems in the construction of the college student association. One of these is the reason college student attach himself to the student association, which is often neglected by researchers. Each year during the period freshman coming to school, all student associations propagandize themselves actively. Because college student association is found on the basis of students' common hobby, each association publicizes its characteristic and recruits new members; freshmen take part in their favorite association actively. But active freshmen seem to be too impatient to wait and blind to some degree. Freshman apparently becomes the fixed supplier of new member to association. On the contrast to the positive enrollment of freshmen is the prevalent negativeness and secession. College students in higher grade choose to secede from student association. There aren't many students still participate in student association when they become juniors, and there is few in fourth grade.To explain the problem clearly, this research takes Chongqing C University for example, adopts the method of questionnaire and interview to investigate the composing of college student association and the reasons of their participation. Findings of the research are as follows: from the point of composing of student association, they are mainly underclassman and few high grade students; from the point of reasons of students' participation, they join student association mainly to improve their ability, to develop their hobby and to explore the sense of belonging. Association members hope to advance their ability of practice and expression, increase the ability of communication and sense of innovation. And from the characteristics of communication of college students, student association is their best choice to develop their communication. The main reasons of seceding from student association are as follows: students in higher grade tend to more mature and less blind; they can arrange their time better, the disadvantages in running of student association and the faultiness of manage system weakens the charm of student association. Therefore, to settle the problems in college student association we should pay attention to these two factors: appropriate induction for students to participate in student association and better construction of student association.
