With the globalization of world economy,interculture communication(IC) has become the feature of this new era. After entering WTO,China has increased her contacts with other countries;therefore,she needs more and more people who can fully appreciate other cultures.Considering such situations,the Chinese Educational Committee has made the requirement of cultivating students'intercultural communition awareness and essential intercultural communition competence (ICC) in the English Curriculum Standards. The accumulation of cultural knowledge of English plays an important role in promoteing students' intercultural communication consciousness and the basic ability to cross-cultural communication. So far, the systematic research On children's ability to cross-cultural communication have not been formed. Surveys on children's ability to cross-cultural communication and mastering English culture knowledge are also not much..In order to understand the current cultural knowledge mastering English pupils situation,I have tested Shanghai's 159 pupils and 189 pupils of Changzhou city about the knowledge of English culture.Survey results indicate that overall mastery level of students'English culture knowledge is medium. The way used to get knowledge of English culture is mainly extracurricular knowledge.The pupils relatively like classes about cities.The biggest harvest in English class is new words and sentences.Pupils'cultural knowledge are average in the Shanghai and Changzhou two regions. Both the selected school students English cultural knowledge level differences are not obvious. The way used to expand pupils extracurricular culture vision is not quite different in the two selected schools. Both are mainly extracurricular knowledge.The pupils relatively like classes about cities in Shanghai and Changzhou. The biggest harvest in English class is new words and sentences. The overall situation that pupils learn English culture are little different from the situations in Shanghai and Changzhou.
