Narrative Inquiry On Parenting In Rural Community

Online game addiction is a kind of additive behavior which can destroy player's social function. The IAD(internet addiction disorder) problem of adolescents has attracted a lot of common concern today. Some researches concluded that the IAD adolescents had other mental problems besides IAD. The study showed that most of IAD adolescents'family function was poor. Family structure, family atmosphere, parenting, early parenting experience, communication and parents'attitude to internet have close connection to the IAD adolescents. Adolescents in rural community were more likely addicted to the net than the users in the town which challenge the rural family educaion.This research investigated a rural family with an IAD adolescent in Henan province. Researcher took part in the real situation of family educational practice to narrate the conflicts between adolescent and parents on online games, and made further investigation on parents'original family educational experience, in order to represente the family affecting factors in the IAD process and inquire the affecting factors of parenting in rural community with narrative inquiry method. This paper finds that online games are not the only reason that causes IAD, in stead parents' excessive concern about studying outcomes and ignoring the other developing needs of adolescent deepen the child's dependence on online games. Parenting is formed from parents'early family educational experience. Only though correct understanding of parenting can we come up with proper guiding theory to improve family practice.This study was divided into five parts.The first chapter:the background and the purpose of this research, relevant literature research, define the concept of parenting and addiction on online games. The second chapter:the inquiring process of research, including mention of the problem, researching methods, collecting methods of materials, analyzing methods of the materials.The third Chapter:narrate the story of family education in network age, dynamically present the effects of parenting on children's studying and playing in family educational practice.The fourth chapter:narrate the story of the family education of parents, explore the continuity of parents'family educational experience and the forming process of parentingThe fifth chapter:analyze the reason of the adolescent's disorder behavior, improve parenting of parents based on the continuity of their experience.
