The talent shortage of small and medium-sized enterprises is a practical question as well as the difficulty of employment for the university graduated students. The purpose of this study is trying to give advice and make suggestions which can promote the graduates choosing a job in the small and medium-sized enterprises. At first,we talk about the present condition of SME and the driving forces and resisting forces in employing the graduated students though the interview of 30 SMEs, then analyze the attitude toward occupation choice, the career motivationthe and the influential factors about graduates'career choice though the questionnaire survey of 1200 university students. The conclusions followed are based on the descriptive calculations:(1) The small and medium-sized enterprises have great potential to recruit graduates,but the current situation is that they have difficulties on getting the right people, using talents efficaciously and retaining the talents in enterprises.(2) University students'ability do not match the SMEs'requirements.These corporations emphasize more on the graduates'soft power, such as abilities to communicate, to study and to solve problems as well as some merits like honesty, loyalty and responsibility.(3) Students's traditional concept of employment is still obvious.Although the majority of graduates are willing to take up occupations at enterprise, but not the first choice of employment. To a certain extent there is no alternative choice. The hygiene factor such as the salary and welfare is the most important when the graduates choose jobs.More and more attention has also been devoted to the developmental factor as personal interest, development space and the operating conditions of the enterprise. And students'pay little attention on reputation factors like social status.(4) Graduates with different genders and majors have different ideas of choosing jobs. Most boy students choose job rotation like production, sales & marketing and research& development, while the girl students like the secretarial job and finance position. For the most part of the students,they hope the job is match their major.The expect salary of the students is higher than enterprise salary.(5) The development prospect and corporate culture play a positive role in promoting the graduates choosing a job in the small and medium-sized enterprises. The lack of publicity and practice training are all turning against the match of students and the enterprise.According to those, we make the following suggestions to encourage graduates to work in the small and medium-sized enterprises: The government can make some policies to guarantee the graduates'interests and to stimulate the needs of enterprises in order to let graduates work in SMEs. When employing, the SMEs have to be clear about the major need, provide clear foreground, pay more attention to propaganda and provide practicing positions to select satisfying graduates.The graduates ought to change their attitude towards choosing jobs. Meanwhile they have to improve their abilities and plan their career carefully. Universities need to undertake reforms of majors and instruction according to the social needs. And they can let their graduates work by practicing and propagate government's policies and call on the society to respect graduates'options.
