Inquiry learning is a new learning mode based on promoting independent learning of students, its purpose is to cultivate students to pursuit of excellence, discover problems so as to solve problems, and to have innovative spirit and innovation ability. Higher vocational education is a high-level vocational and technical education, and core of quality education is to cultivate the creativity and practical ability of students, which is also an important task for higher vocational education. Therefore, the importance of carrying out Inquiry learning in the higher vocational education is bound to highlight.As a new approach to learning, Inquiry learning has become an important ideas and strategies in curriculum and teaching. Especially, it compensates the traditional courses in the innovative spirit and practical ability. Inquiry Learning is not just a change in general sense of the teaching and study, but it is an important means of cultivating high-quality workers. To study this subject can bring some practical recommendations higher vocational education both in the curriculum, teaching, learning, assessment and management.The present endeavor describes the development and current situation of Inquiry Learning in higher vocational education, explores the content, features and advantages of Inquiry Learning, points the necessity of changes in teaching methods in higher vocational colleges, discusses the application of Inquiry Learning in higher vocational colleges, and proofs the feasibility of carrying out Inquiry Learning in higher vocational colleges. Based on the research, a special inquiry learning suitable of higher vocational education is proposed. The design principles and system framework of the model has been further researched on, and a more complete system is expected. In order to verify the model, the practice teaching has been put practice in accordance with the mode, and a compare study had been made in two parallel classes between different teaching models. The extensive development of Inquiry Learning in higher vocational colleges has its data support.By researching on Inquiry Learning in higher vocational colleges enriched the theory and enhanced the innovative spirit and creative ability of students. And the strategies of discovering solving problems, is conducive to the healthy development of Inquiry Learning in higher vocational colleges in the future.
