With the development of productive forces in China, the gap of eastern, central and western regional economy is gradually larger and larger. There is mainly a large difference between eastern subordinate college and western local colleges in the funding allocation, the quality of students, teaching quality, etc. The western area aristocratic children in city get more national funds from early childhood education. The state invests the limited education funds in cities basically, and this group of people also receive special care in the university entrance examination. On the contrary, the western local college students, especially the ones from west impoverished mountainous area, receive unfair treatments not only in training funds but also in further education and employment etc. Western region has experienced low productivity for a long time, and there is a huge gap existing in the economic development between western and eastern area. New characteristics and new problems has arisen among poverty-stricken students'thinking and behavior in this kind of western local colleges and universities, which has caused wide public concern, and has become a hot topic in the field of ideological and political educationThis article based on the investigations and analysis on poverty-stricken students in the western local colleges and universities, mainly did research on Luzhou Medical College, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Leshan Normal College. At the same time, the author visited her colleagues who is working in this field, had interviews and discussed with them on education in ideological and political problems, causes and solutions towards poverty-stricken students.This article is divided into three chapters. The first chapter mainly does analysis on the definition of core concepts in this field, as well as the significance of the issue which is mentioned above. The second chapter concludes the existing problems and the causes of this issue according to the investigations and interviews. The third chapter puts forward some countermeasures, mainly focus on arising the public attention, strengthening the combination of financial aid and ideological education, deepening the approaches of education, strengthening the team building, and forming an educational joint force etc. Hope to provide a platform for the growth of poverty-stricken college students in western area by these countermeasures, as well as do contribution to educating students in harmonious methods, and cultivating harmonious students.
