A Study Of Career Planning Guidance In American University

Career Planning Guidance is to help students receive career planning counseling in the university, with the counselors to help them, these students can arrange and prepare their learning, living and working relevant to their career goals for the new situation. Career planning guidance is also the effective approaches and methods to promoting employment of students.Career planning guidance originated from the United States, dating back more than a century of history. In the 1990s, Career planning has reached China. But it did not get widespread attention and popularity. The United States has formed a relatively complete set of guidance counseling theory and more systematic approaches, which is the birthplace of the career planning. With Chinese economic system reform deepening and the scale of higher education expanding, the difficult employment has been a hot domain gradually. The important issue to resolve the student employment is how to help student plan career rationally, establish the correct values of employment. In this dissertation, we introduce the general and specific work of career counseling planning in the University of Tennessee then analyze its characteristics. We also combine China's specific conditions with status of the development of counseling career planning. This dissertation consists of four chapters mainly.Chapter 1, introduce the background and significance. Investigate the results of previous works, and guide the related concepts of career planning.Chapter 2, introduce the basic characteristics, method and content of the works on career planning guidance, and summarize origin and development of guidanceChapter 3, introduce the implementation and characteristics by taking University of Tennessee as an example. Summarize its specific implementation in America.Chapter 4, by comparing the works of career planning guidance in China and America, draw the conclusion about revelation and propose relevant countermeasures contra posing the shortcomings and deficiencies in China.
