English Curriculum Standard explicitly points out that the general goal of the basic English curriculum is to train students'communicative abilities. English writing is one of the most important communicative abilities. However, there are many problems both in learning and teaching . Many students pay no attention to English writing and they are surely not interested in it, either. Thus, their English writing ability can hardly be improved. And many teachers pay no attention to teaching their students how to write in English. Their boring teaching methods can't arouse their students'interests in English writing. Due to these reasons, English writing has become the weak link in junior middle schools.Task-based Language Teaching has been widely used since the 1980s. It emphasizes"Learning while doing"and initiates that students should be put in the centre of the class teaching. The author has conducted an action research on Task-based Language Teaching for English Writing in Class 6, Grade 7. After a term's practice, the students'English writing ability has obviously been improved. They are also more interested and have more confidence in English learning. Of course, there were many problems during the practice. The author decides to perfect it in the future.
