Math study plays a key role in the development of high school liberal arts students as we are undergoing the new course and college tests renovation in Jiangsu Province. However, although the students realize the importance of their education in math, yet, according to the repayment of the class, we observed that their class participation is impassive and shows a lack of efficiency. Through this research on high school liberal arts students, the aim is to stimulate the teachers to pay more attention to classroom teaching, to discover the methods of getting high school liberal arts students to participate in class, and to provide suggestions for the renovation of new courses.After doing a survey and interview on the students and teachers, we discovered that the class participation level is low. The survey shows that the factors affecting students'class participation are math background, gender, study method, way of thinking, psychological factors, etc. The factors affecting teachers are teaching methods and emotional laziness. Besides these two, there are also social and cultural factors. This study proposes strategies for improving students'class participation from the students'point of view, and the teachers' point of view. Case studies of improving students'class participation are also given.
