Research On JiYuan City Development And Sport Event Choice

With the development of the political, economic, social and culture value of sport event, more and more cities began to choose sport event to promote the city image, build the city brand and push the city construction. Too many successful examples of the relationship between city development and sport event had proven that sport event is one of the effective ways to promote the city development.The research makes JiYuan City as the study object, and believes that there are three relationships between sport event and city development:causation relation, effect-to-cause, and reciprocal causation. On the analysis about the relationships, the study considers that not only the big city could hold sport event, small city just like JiYuan City can also hold corresponding sport event. On the basis of studying the characters of JiYuan City, the study makes the conclusion that basketball is fit to JiYuan City. Because of its scale and economic level, JiYuan City could not hold great sport event and sport event with brand. As a result, JiYuan City need to choose sport event seriously and carefully.JiYuan City has government support, fast-developing economy, profound cultural background and advanced stadium. The lead of the government, the support of the city residents, the sponsor the local companies and the press campaign of the medias are the important driving forces of its sport choice. After the analysis and conclusion, the research believes that, in the past five years, JiYuan City had held different types of sport events, and the participators came from different field. Sports star is one of the most key reasons to attract audiences. On the contrary, uncertain strategic, unclear stage, unbalanced timing arrangement and no difference between primary and secondary are the main problems of JiYuan City's sport event choice.Consequently, the study makes the following countermeasures for its sport event choice:make the development of JiYuan City as the goal of the sport event choice and confirm its outward-looking development strategy; stick to the principles such as locality, actuality, peculiarity, flexibility and continuity; choose the national basketball league matches as the base, choose the international basketball performance to increase the influence, create local brand sport event; keep balance between the national, international, and local sport events; make the timing arrangement reasonably.The study is helpful to solve the blindness of keen competition to the hosting of sport event. It can also provide some references to the governments of small cities when the make strategic decision about sport event choice.
