The ability of self-control in learning is an important component of personality qualities which plays a significant role in the regulation and control of student learning behavior and the improvement of which contribute to the development of individual other qualities. It is important to train the ability of self-control in learning and the attention stability which are the key factor that influence the student's academic performance in the period of junior high school. So this study has choosed the ability of self-control in learning and the attention stability to investigate the correlativity between the two factors and student's academic performance in order to examine the effect on student's academic performance. Furthermore, this research put forward some educational suggestion according to the results with the hope of providing reference value for the teaching work in the future.The research has predictive tested and analysized the Attention Stability Questionnaire for the Junior High School Students, then used the two questionnaires which contains The ability of Self-control in Learning Questionnaire for the Junior High School Students and the Attention Stability Questionnaire for the Junior High School Students, collected the academic performance of the students and changed them into the standard scores, which were based on the previous researches on these variables and used nearly to six-hundred of the junior high school students in Kaifeng city as the testee. This study mainly discusses the general situation and development characteristics of the ability of self-control in learning, the correlativity in the three factors, mediating effect of the attention stability in the correlativity of the ability of self-control in learning and academic performance.The research obtains the following results:1. The junior high school students'ability of self-control in learning is a little more than the middle level in the the general situation; the girls'scores on the ability of self-control in learning are higher than the boys'markedly; the students'ability of self-control in learning decreased gradually from grade 1 to grade 3; the urban students'ability of self-control in learning are higher than the students'in the country markedly; the students'ability of self-control in learning who are the only child in the family are higher than those who are not the only child in the family.2. There are marked positive correlation exist in the ability of self-control in learning and the attention stability, in the ability of self-control and academic performance, in the ability of self-control in learning and academic performance.3. The junior high school students'ability of self-control in learning can forecast academic performance significantly.4. The attention stability plays the mediating effect in the ability of self-control in learning and academic performance.
