The purpose of the study was to explore the Interest-based English Teaching and Learning to a middle school student addicted to online games and lacking interest in studying through a case study.The main research question was that what effects Interest-based English Teaching and Learning exert upon the middle school student addicted to online games and lacking interest in studying. There were two specific research questions:1) What is the Interest-based English Teaching and Learning for a middle school student addicted to online games and lacking interest in learning English? 2) How is the Interest-based English Teaching and Learning designed for the middle school student addicted to online games and lacking interest in learning English?This study adopted interviews, diary studies and experimental studies to collect data. Qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis were used.The results of the study yield the following findings:1) The student has positively engaged in the English learning and improved his English by using Interest-based English Teaching and Learning with principles of short time, practicality, encouragement, dominance, challenge, interest-oriented, fun-oriented and simple English; 2) It cannot enhance his interest in learning English and reduce his addiction to online games by using Interest-based English Teaching and Learning. Therefore, we need to switch the emphasis of Interest-based English Teaching and Learning from the interesting forms to ways making students interested in learning English so that their autonomy of learning may come into presence.
