| This essay showed the historical process of Fujian Shipping School and made an analysis of its schooling experience which broke through the tradition. In addition, it analyzed the current situation and the main problems of Fujian province, proposed some strategies which should be adopted in the background of Fujian west coast economic zone construction. Based on the case of Fuzhou Vocation and Technology Institution, this essay pointed the future way for higher vocational education in our province. In order to adapting to the need of the west coast economic zone construction, it suggested that the reformation of higher vocational education in Fujian should start both from the aspects of quality and the characteristic, and should realize its healthy and compatible development by meeting the need of local area, meanwhile it getting stronger by itself.
