| The physical education class in middle school is the key step of the whole education system of PE, because the middle students are in the transition period from the children to the youth which causes the great changes in their physics and mind. Also the middle students have stronger personality and more independent thought. As the great cultural heritage in China, the martial art is necessarily to be set up as the optional course in middle school. The main tasks of the course are to let students reach various education goals and standards of physical exercise, promote the development of students'mind and physics, arouse their initiative, dig for students's potential and creativity to reach the goal of Quality Education, and to cultivate the brilliant students with high quality. It will not only be good for the martial art's development and spreading, but also enrich student's knowledge of the martial art. It is the important step and component part of the martial art programme strategy in China.The essay takes the middle schools in Zi Bo city as the study examples, discusses the possibility of martial art's development in middle school in Zi Bo area where the environment of martial art is good in order to provide theory and reference for the martial art's development in middle school and Peclass teaching mode under the quality education environment. The essay chooses 8 middle schools in Zi Bo as the samples, uses the documentary data method, questionaire method, and the method of mathematical statistics and so on to analyze and study the topic. The results of the survey are:1. Zi Bo is brilliant in the martial art's development as well as economy. The county of Lin Zi, Bo Shan and Zhou Cun areconfered as " the hometown of martial art". The martial art is popular especially among young people in all kinds of physical sports.2. The teaching staff of the martial art is strong in Zi Bo middle school. Almost all the schools have their own professional teachers majored in martial art, some of them are graduated from the normal university and some of them are professional athletes in PE college. These teachers with good professional basis and quality have a high expection on martial art as the optional course in middle school.3. The students in the city middle school are very interested in learning martial art because of the influence of "the hometown of Wu Shu". On the other hand, the martial art can not be limited by the ground and financial reasons. So, it has the practical meaning to set up the optional course for martial art.4. The leaders in this field are supportive for setting up the optional course of martial art in addition to the rich cultural environment. So the possibility of martial art becoming optional course is high.5. The middle school students are fascinated by the martial art. They are eager to learn the related techniques, the culture philosophy of martial art.
