Our educational game has developed greatly with the deepening of educational game research, especially the promotion of the concept on the New Course Reform. The establishment of subject educational game resources has leading our educational game. However, current educational game blindly pursues the form of games and neglects the understanding and design of the game's content, because of lacking theoretical direction. Therefore, players can't master the educational content and can't understand the educational meaning after they played the games.According to above mentioned question, the thesis focused on the understanding of primary educational game design, which comprehensively using Documentary Research Method, Comparative Research Method and Experimental Research Method. It provides the method for understanding of primary educational game design and achieves the game design under the guidance of the method, which analyzing the theory and development for educational game.First of all, the thesis summarizes the research current situation on internal and external education theories and developments based on reading literature and testing educational game. Secondly, the thesis tends to have a deeper study on educational theory with the Theory of Children's Cognitive Development, Classical Game Theory and Modern Game Theory. The thesis defines the conception of educational game and analyzes the characteristics and classifications of educational game. At the same time, it provides the characteristics of educational game for understanding. After that, the thesis put emphasis on the understanding of primary educational game, which was formed four dimensions: the object design of educational game based on the understanding, the design of game interface in favor of the understanding, the design of mission objective according to the understanding, the design of games level found on the understanding. In conclusion, using this method, the thesis fulfilled the case that called'Primary Mathematics and Statistics Educational Game', which using the course content in related statistics of Primary Mathematics Textbook that published by Jiangsu Education Publishing House, in 2005.
