It's obvious that Chinese reading classes in high schools play important roles in Chinese teaching materials. The purpose of Chinese reading classes is to achieve the efficiency of Chinese teaching. However, the current high school Chinese teaching is inefficient. For one reason, teachers'teaching levels and their teaching methods are not very satisfactory. For another, problems existing in Chinese teaching materials can not be ignored. This article studies on the improvement of effectiveness of Chinese reading classes in high schools based on Jiangsu high school Chinese textbooks. The aim is to solve the problems occurred in Chinese reading classes in high schools.This article tries to expatiate on Jiangsu high school Chinese textbooks, research on class teaching and teaching practice based on the relatively concentrative literature reading and the effectiveness evaluation in reading teaching. The purpose is to have a deeply understanding—from rationality to practice—of Chinese reading teaching in high schools, explicit judgments when coming up against problems in teaching practice, and positive instructional significance in teaching practice as well as the improvement of effectiveness of Chinese reading teaching. In this paper, literature research, class analysis, practical inquiry and some other research methods are used to make our teaching consciously clear from the blind chaos, improve the scientificity of Chinese teaching and enhance the teaching effectiveness.This paper is divided into five parts. The first part is about the introduction, including the research background, literature review, the significance of research and research content. The second part discusses the theories of effective teaching, which are the bases of practical researches. Next part is about the analysis of the effectiveness in current Chinese reading teaching, the main issues in current Chinese reading teaching together with the reasons why reading teaching is inefficient. Furthermore, the inefficiency of the teaching materials themselves is also mentioned here. Then, the paper discusses how to improve the effectiveness of Chinese reading teaching, including efficiency strategies, efficiency teaching materials and case study , and teachers'qualities. Finally, the paper is about the conclusion.
