To maintain long-term stability of society,for our country's economic and social development and create a stable and good social environment is the responsibility and mission of the public security organs. Police officers should have not only good political and professional qualities, and cultural qualities, but also abilities and physical qualities to fight against and seize enemy. However, at present, there still exists a certain gap between the physical quality and practical combat skills of the public security policemen and the needs of the current struggle against enemy. This situation is found worrying.The aim of education is to improve the quality of talents. Police, as a special profession of society, has special requirements with its. Different times have different requirements for professional qualities of policemen as this profession is closely related to politics and society. This determines the development of police professionalism. In this new era, China's political, economic, and cultural values have undergone profound changes, such as building a socialist harmonious society and building a socialist country under the rule of law, and so on. With these changes, the police functions have taken place as a result. The tools of violence and dictatorship have become executives of fairness and justice. The exercise of limitation and control has changed into service and protection. A new requirement is thus formed for the professional qualities of policemen. What are the key elements and real meanings of these qualities? How to develop these qualities? These are not only the problems which need to be resolved by police educational practice, but also deep-seated problems of police educational theory. The choice of teaching mode directly influences the accomplishment of fostering talents.This paper attempts to study the practice-oriented teaching mode of police education hoping to attain productive conclusion. Starting with analyzing the construction of that teaching mode the paper elaborates the formation, development, and reformation of the practice-oriented teaching mode. It also studies the current situation and the significance of police practice teaching and proposes a direction for the teaching and educational reform of police security institutions of our countries.
