Since the rise of Populism, no matter in which countries, it has been one of the issues which caused debate and discussion in academic. The philosophy of Populism is very distinct; it is concerned with interest of masses, direct democracy, democratic, also, it is opposed to the government of elite which are corrupt and at the sacrifice of masses'current interests. Also, as two key concepts of Populism, Mass, Elite and their relationship has become the concern of Populist. The majority of masses can be endowed with the people's democratic and legality of rule, while the minority of populist elites are playing a part to express the position on be half of masses. Populist worship the power of masses, politically, it reflects the intelligence of most mid and low-level people. All in all, no matter how we think of the positivity and limitations of Populism, it's important to understand its substantive characteristics and pattern. With regard to the Populism tradition in Chinese society and its evolution along with Social Transformation, especially, Mao's attitude towards Populism is not only very important for the study of Mao Tse-tung's Thought, but also require social transformation to pay more attention on that during Modernization process. In recent years, there have been many disputes in academic over whether Mao is a populist or whether he has the thought of Populism. All refer to a basic topic:Mao's attitude towards Populism. Only after we elaborating what Mao's Populism is exactly like, whether it changes as well as whether need to prevent Populism or how to treat it, we can understand the above subjects well and draw a reasonable conclusion.
