Women's issues are important social issues and the degree of women's liberation is a significant yardstick to measure the progress of society. The Communist Party of China always attaches great importance to women's issues. During the Soviet period, basing on the concrete reality, the CPC formulated a series of policies to safeguard women's rights, emphatically from the aspects of Politics, economy, education, marriage and special labor rights protection. Thus changing the former slogans on women's rights protection into the form of legal safeguarding, which gave the safeguarding of women's rights solid legal basis. At the same time, women's political awareness and sense of self-maintenance was continuously enhanced through education.But the safeguarding of women's rights endowed by Law cannot be realized automatically in reality, especially facing the great impact of feudal rule in the old China. Therefore relevant organizations were required to set up to monitor and enforce the implement of the safeguarding. Accordingly, the Soviet Government established Women's Livelihood Improvement Committee at all levels and organized regular meetings of women peasant representatives. Both contribute a lot to the safeguarding of women's rights in the Soviet Area.In the Soviet Area, women's political awareness, economic status, self-independence sense and health condition were greatly promoted by legislating. All these blaze a path of women's liberation aroud then China.The practice of the safeguarding of women's rights in Central Soviet Area improved the overall quality of women, rooted the concept of gender equality deeply among the people, and accelerated the awakening of the rural women. It laid the practical and ideological foundation for the further liberation of Chinese women and found out a Chinese way for women liberation. Though,due to historical reasons,the safeguarding of women's rights in the Soviet Area was not complete mature and perfect, it's still a great beginning of the practice of women's rights protection in Chinese history and provided direct experience for contemporary protection of women's rights. |
