On The Cost Of Transportation In The Equipment Mobilization

Transportation is an essential element of national economy as the blood circulation to a nation. As Lenon stated transportation is "the vital material factor in war". Militarily, it is the means of transferring troops and materials;economically, it is the following-up of production process in the circulation process and its structural pattern and capacity cost determine the pace of national economic growth,largely responsible for regional economic mobilization in wartime.The decision-makers in war attached more importance to the political and military factor in transportation with the ultimate destination of winning the war, while ignoring the economical factors. Actually, the modern war is more economical rather than political. Due to rare sources of war-related material, the material supply becomes more important. The thesis objectively made a comparative analysis of wartime mobilization from the three perspective-roads, railways and waterway with the method of linear and multi-object planning. Finally the optimization results are obtained for each transportation method in time optimal model with single objective, cost optimal model with single objective and time and cost optimal model with multiple objectives.
