Nowadays, kinds of public crises break out at home and abroad constantly. In 2008 many public events happened one after another, such as snow and ice disasters, train collision, Tibet riots, Wenchuan earthquake, and toxic milk crisis, causing enormous losses, and also further promote the Chinese people to consider: How to form an effective system to deal with these unpredictable and great influential crises.Once these events happen, society has become the focus of public concern, and the vital interests of the public are closely related. As a subject of public crisis management, government effectively deal with the crisis is the inevitable requirement and reflection of its functions. However, nowadays the media industry and media technology is advancing, and the government is no longer the only subject of crisis management, the media environment has an obligation to provide the public with the truth of the incident, the guidance and supervision of public opinion, which become a key factor that public crisis management is a success or failure. The effective interaction between the media and government covers many contents, but this thesis studied the relationship between the government and the media from the view of the government's handling of relations with the media, and though the comparative analysis of two earthquakes in Tangshan and Wenchuan, we find out the gains and losses of the Chinese government: Since reform and opening up, our government make good use of the media's active role in crisis management, such as from a passive response by the Government to take the initiative to deal with crisis, from the political propaganda-style-type response to public opinion to guide disaster relief and so on.However, as China's economic development and the deepening of reform and opening up, the society is controlled by government from the administration to public management. In the social management of public affairs, the media become more and more important. Particularly in crisis management, the Government in dealing with the relationship with the media, there is still an urgent need to improve, such as the crisis in the objectivity of reported problems, the crisis of the depth and breadth of reported problems, and so not enough. Therefore, this thesis based on the current status of China's crisis management, and makes an analysis of how the Government should build a positive interaction with the media to deal with the crisis. In this thesis, we analyze the definition of crisis and the characters of crisis management in the beginning, and then introduce the government's responsibility in the crisis management and the role of media in crisis management. And through practical case the thesis analyze the current problems in crisis management, and carry out a deep thinking, hoping to explore the effective interactive solutions. |
