To pursue a harmonious society is an eternal theme for human beings. Therefore, The Sixth Plenum of the 16th CPC Central Committee has adopted the "Resolutions of the CPC Central Committee on Major Issues Regarding the Building of a Harmonious Socialist Society" in which it has made a full illustration on how to construct a harmonious Socialist Society following the overall requirement of building a democratic society under the rule of law, a society based on equity and justice, an honest and caring society, a society full of vigor and a stable and orderly society in which humans live in harmony with nature. The building of a harmonious socialist society is a strategic action of our Party to suit the new historical situations and to push forward the great socialist cause with Chinese characteristics, a necessity to develop economy in the period of system transition and social transformation, a demand to meet the continuous material and cultural needs of the Chinese people, a social basis to consolidate the ruling position of the Party and an inevitable requirement to fulfill the administration of the Party. Ideological and political education is a fundamental meanwhile urgent step which should run through the whole practice of this great task. Under the environment of building the harmonious socialist society, the creation of the ideological and political education has aroused great attention in our society and the academic circles are joining in the discussion of the correlated theoretical problems in succession. On the basis of large amounts of documents, the author systematically analyzes the ideological and political education in building a Harmonious Socialist Society. In the beginning, by analyzing the new opportunities and challenges our work will confront in such great practice, the author points out that our work should not be restricted into the traditional function and contents but set up new concepts so as to be adapted to the demand of building the harmonious socialist society. Furthermore, the author extends the work of ideological and political education into a larger scale from various perspectives, such as idea, methods, mechanism etc. |
