Guided by relationship of consuming and recognition, theory of symbols consumption, the paper analyses the public identity of"after 80"migrant workers from the perspective of consumption patterns. Base on the investigation and research of the subject"Transition of Migrant Workers'Consumption Patterns in the Yangtze River Delta", chaired by Professor Yan Chijun, the paper selects some data of migrant workers born in 1980s and 1960s to analyze with SPSS13.0, and draws the unique consumption tendency of"after 80"migrant workers by comparison. At the same time, 20 cases were selected for in-depth interviews, in order to analyze their public identity from subjects of"after 80"migrant workers.Because of their age groups, some new consumption tendencies have emerged from clothing, food, housing, transportation, leisure and entertainment and other consumption patterns which are different from traditional migrant workers'. These consumption tendencies show the public identity of"after 80"migrant workers: awareness of different from farmers, external recognition for citizenship and inherent strength of citizen quality. Economic capital, consumption culture in the city, demonstration effect of citizen groups and desire of personal success promote their public consumption. However, because of limited income, risk of future society, and non-scientific consumption concept,"after 80"migrant workers are in trouble in the process of consumption recognition. Some of the measures should be taken, such as full employment, establishment of social security system and guidance of scientific consumption concept, so that they can consume, dare to consume, and consume scientifically, which promote their public identity in consumption level, and promote China's urbanization process.
