Abstract/Summary:
The term"armymen's mental quality"is the stable, basic, derivative, integrative mental character, which based on physiological condition, takes personality as its core, reflects fortitudinous ability, and formed through the interaction between individual and military-social environment. Studying armymen's mental quality would not only meet the need to strengthen the combat effectiveness, but also realize the important task of enriching the theoretical system of Martial Psychology and Quality Education, and promoting the training and education of mental quality in army.Although the domestic research on mental quality has developed solid theoretical basis and mature research methods, the research on armymen's mental quality is just in the beginning. Through academic research and practical research, the previous graduated student used qualitative research and quantitative research methods to explore the concept, structure and scale of armymen's mental quality. It is proposed that armymen's mental quality consist of 5 dimensions: aptitude, loyalty, bravery, self-confidence and willpower, and each dimension include three factors, on which armymen's mental quality questionnaire has developed. Nevertheless there are some deficiencies. For instance the structure of armymen's mental quality lacks confirmation, the questionnaire needs revision, the norm and criterion are still lacking. In view of these deficiencies, the aim of this study is to analyze and confirm the structure and components of armymen's mental quality, to revise the questionnaire, and to make the norm and criterion. This study chooses 9700 Chinese armymen as subjects, and adopts quantitative methods, such as EFA, CFA, correlate analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA analysis, T test and non-parameter test etc. to explore the structure and components, questionnaire, norm and criterion of armymen's mental quality.Several conclusions emerge from the current study:1. By EFA and CFA, it is suggested that the structure of armymen's mental quality include 5 dimensions (concretely 15 factors): aptitude, loyalty, bravery, self-confidence and willpower respectively. The aptitude is comprised of judgment, decision-making and response; the loyalty consists of patriotism, dedication and responsibility; the bravery is constituted of determination, steadiness and constancy; the self-confidence consists of imperturbation, independence and team spirit; the willpower consists of adaptability, adjustment and endurance.2. The questionnaire of armymen's mental quality has fine validity and reliability. It can be used as a valid tool to measure armymen's mental quality.3. Significant main effects of armymen's mental quality exist in different services, ranks and military ages, and the interactions between them are not significant. Accordingly, we founded 4 norms: the whole norm, the service norm, the rank norm and the military ages norm, which can be considered as the objective criteria for the assessment of mental quality in armymen.4. Significant differences of armymen's mental quality exist in different services, ranks and military ages. In services, the entire mental quality manifests as follows: the air force>the navy>the land force. In ranks, the entire mental quality manifests as follows: officer>non-commissioned officer>soldier. In military ages, the entire mental quality fluctuates with the trend of"increase- decrease-increase"as military age increases.5. Armymen's mental quality can be classified into 5 grades as assessment criterion: excellent, good, satisfactory, unsatisfactory and poor.
