Deng Xiaoping's Theory of Nationality is the important unit of theory of building socialism with Chinese characteristics. It formed in the historical background in which peace and development are the theme of the times. It is the ideological system that combines the universal principles of Marxism with the practice and zeitgeist of contemporary China, which is true theoretical principle and experience to solve the national problems in the process of building socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is Marxism's new phase developed in China.Deng Xiaoping is guided by Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought, combines the practice activities in the period of Zuoyoujiang Revolution, the new China foundation and new times to form and perfect the theory of nationality. It includes six aspects: national equality, national unity, the regional ethnic autonomy system, all nationalities finally achieve common prosperity and to respect the religion freedom of the minority nationality. Deng Xiaoping's Theory of Nationality has its unique characteristics that emancipate the mind and seek truth from facts. It has the theoretical value and practical significance.In the new times, it has the important and realistic function to guide and solve the national problem to study the origin of the theory and practice base, summarize the basic contents and characteristics, and present the theoretical status and realistic significance. We must study carefully, apply Deng Xiaoping's Theory of Nationality, enrich and develop the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in practice according to the theme of national work in new century—"to unite and strive commonly, to flourish and develop commonly"presented by Hu Jintao.
