National spirit sustains an independent spiritual power for the existence and development of a nation. National spirit is not initiative in the interior, also and transplantable in the exterior, but cultivable. It is a result which nation cultivate initiatively long . Chinese excellent traditional culture is broad and extensive, and foundation of great spirit of nation is profound. Traditional culture of nation is the foundation of national spirit. Without foundation of excellent traditional culture of nation, national spirit will not exist and develop. Therefore, to cultivate the national spirit requires not only inheritance but also development. The basic thought of the paper is as follows: From introducing the meaning of Chinese traditional culture, the paper expounds the basic spirit of Chinese excellent traditional culture and the scientific connotation of spirit of Chinese nation. The paper study education of Chinese excellent traditional culture together with the cultivation of the national spirit, and points out the close relations between them. On this basis, the paper trace back to the history of education of Chinese traditional culture, detail historic experience of education of Chinese traditional culture. Then, the paper introduces the conditions education of Chinese traditional culture under present circumstances. This paper points out and analyses some questions of education of Chinese traditional culture in school, family and society.
