Since the end of cold war, particularly the past few years, the rising of India has become a buzzword both in domestic and abroad academic field. In general, Indian foreign policies during the post-cold war period can be outlined as the all-round policies with a focus in point. To get a permanent seat of Security Council (SC) of UN is the focus of Indian post-cold-war foreign policies. Specifically speaking, this paper is on India's bid for a permanent seat in SC. In today's international community, unilateralism is at odds with multilateralism, with the pace of political multi-polarization and economic globalization being increasingly advanced. As a rising regional power with potential of being a world power, whether India can be a permanent member in Security Council surely concerns not only the change of power structure in the international community, but also national interests of China. Therefore, further research on feasibility of India's bid for permanent membership of Security Council presents long-term influences both in theory and reality. The paper consists of five parts, of which the fist part is about the Indian policies and stance on SC reform. While, the second part is on reasons India bids for permanent membership. The third part is on efforts India has made for its bid. The fourth part is about the advantages and disadvantages for such a bid. Sometimes, India has to undergo political instability and uneven economic development in domestic and strong opposition from its neighbors. The proposals of reconstructing Security Council are still under discussion. And the final part is the conclusion of the paper. In summary, with the reconstructing of SC moving on and rising of India's national power and international position, the feasibility of India's bid for permanent membership is quite high, but maybe a permanent member without veto right.
