The problem of development has been one of basic topics in present society. To realize the development, especially that in developing country, plenty of "development theories"have sprung up, but they fail in the end. This dissertation holds that the thorough solution to the problem of development calls for "returning to Marx"and taking the thought of Marx as the guide. Thus, this dissertation narrates and analyzes Marx's view of development from Marx's originals and probes into its specific use and development in contemporary society. This dissertation probes into Marx's view of development from five angles. First,it inquires into Marx's conception of social development. Social development is a dialectic development process composed of contradictions of objectivity and subjectivity, graduality and revulsion, integrity and variety. Second, it investigates Marx's conception of intercourse development. Marx's assumption on "Kafdin Valley"and the theory of "historical transformation toward world history"fully reflect his thought that intercourse improves development that has been expanded and applied to the practice of China's refomation and opening nowadays to some extent. Third, it probes into Marx's conception of innovative development. Marx thinks that innovation is the motive source of social development. At present, China's innovative development should take Marx's thought as the guide so that it can be brought into better play and use according to China's reality of social development. Fourth, it investigates Marx's conception of sustainable development. The quintessence of thought of sustainable development provides ways and orientation for realizing social sustainable development under the backgroud of globalization and global matters. Last, it inquires into Marx's conception of human development. Marx's thought on human free, all-round, full and harmonious development tells us that human development is the key point and that the other kinds of development all serve human development in essence.
