Independent Status Of The Elderly And Its Influencing Factors

With the accelerating of the aging process, family and community has become increasingly unbearable pressure of this huge endowment. People often focus more on government, society and their children, ignoring the elderly themselves have the old-age potential. The main purpose of this study is to promote and encourage older persons to self-reliance, give full play to the role of older people themselves in old age. The elderly to achieve self-support based on self-reliance as a prerequisite and guarantee, to solve the pension problems, first of all to pay attention to the independent status of the elderly. The so-called self-reliance refers to the gradual process that the elderly in the social life, from dependence to independence to others, and then the spirit achieve the independence state. The elderly independence includes three major aspects:living self-care, mental self-reliance and economic self-reliance. This study starting from the old personal factors will affect the situation of the elderly independent living by reason of physiological factors, social factors and economic factors.This study investigated by questionnaire survey and found its influencing factors of independent elderly. Firstly, sort out the theory of living self-care, mental self-reliance, economic self-reliance about the elderly at home and abroad, then to review the literature. Secondly, describe and analyze the overall situation of the elderly on living self-care, mental self-reliance and economic self-reliance, then from the three aspects: physiological factors, social factors and economic factors to make correlation analysis. At last, ensure the main factors of living self-care, mental self-reliance and economic self-reliance of the elderly by multivariate regression analysis. Finally, summarize the research findings and further explore the relationship of the dimensionality on living self-care. mental self-reliance and economic self-reliance, then to state the research enlightenment and deficiencies.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:1. From the overall situation of living self-care, mental self-reliance and economic self-reliance, the independent status of the elderly was in the middle level and in the lower step. 2. In the physiological factors, the influence of chronic diseases was the most significant factor, followed by gender and age.3. In the social factors, residence, education level and number of children influence independence of the elderly significantly. The independent elderly people who live in cities, high educational level and fewer children were in good condition, but marital status, living patterns had little protective effect.4. In the economic factors, the property room situation of the elderly significantly influenced self-reliance, while the income level of protection is not obvious.
