The degree of the political rights owned by women, has become an important measure to weigh the gender equality of a country. There are some regulaotions about women's political rights in our law, however, because of historical and practical factors, the realization of women's political rights in China is still not so ideal, gender equality on law has not become into fact. In order to improve women's status in China, and achieve gender equality provided in the Constitution, the paper study deeply on the issues of women's political rights in our country. The article reviews the situation of the development of women's political rights in China, points out some problems existing in it, such as:imperfect legislative system, rough regulations, legal expression of "masculine", inadequate realization of women's political rights, and lack of motivation to exercise the political rights of women etc. Then, make use of the method of Gender Analysis to seek the underlying reasons leading to these problems. There are, the process of legal construction was deeply influenced by traditional gender culture, lack neutral and impartial gender awareness, establish and implement laws about female political participation without women's special needs and interests, apply the same rules to the men and the women, all these result the gap of the political rights in fact between male and female. Finally, some proposals are given to advance political participation of women, including:improving the legislative system of female suffrage, establishing workable rules of law, paying attention to the legal expression of the gender fairness, reforming employment, education and other policies supporting systems, and building advanced gender culture, founding favorable social environment for female suffrage.
