Since the lawyer system was restored in 1979, our lawyer service has become more and more popular. With the further development of China's economy and the further enhancement of people's legal awareness, our legal service in China will face historical opportunity for development. Challenges come with opportunities. As foreign law firms are coming, the domestic law firms need to receive the challenges. so they need to strengthen performance management which is one of the most powerful ways. And performance management is based on the key performance indicators (KPI), while KPI gives the direction to practice performance management.To get KPI, strategic objectives of enterprises are needed to establish first, and then identify key performance factors after the decomposition of the enterprise strategic goals and business output analysis. The KPI depends on the key performance factors, so that knowledge workers are motivated to improve performance and ultimately achieve strategic objectives for the enterprise, which is a solid foundation for the healthy, sustained and rapid development.In this research I combine empirical and normative research, Analysis and Countermeasure, qualitative and quantitative analysis. I start from the perspective of human resource management, and makes good use of management and economics theories. After investigating the industry background and performance management practice of GH law firm, I analyze the problems and propose key performance indicators program.GH Law Firm was established in August 2006.It is a middle-sized law firm of Qingdao suburb. The services including criminal civil legal affairs, corporate legal affairs, financial legal affairs, real estate legal affairs, foreign trade legal affairs, and it serve the government, enterprises, institutions or citizens as their legal counsel.Technical analysis of the law firm is in five steps:literature review, field investigations, practical innovation, theoretical deduction and recommendations. Literature review is the research of knowledge workers performance evaluation of the consultation firms, accounting firms. Field survey is a stage of investigation and research of GH Law Firm. The practical approach and results are analyzed, the problems are raised, and the basic ideas are put forward. Practical innovation is to apply previous research and theory to this specific company. Theoretical deduction is to analysis the customer relationship chart, the key success factors, the running procedures and obtains the KPI.The purposes of this thesis and conclusions are:to design the KPI which is based on work analysis for GH law firm, to use KPI gradually in every aspect of daily human resource management, to stimulate GH office staff initiative, enthusiasm, creativity, and promote the performance of the whole firm to ensure the sustainable development of GH law firm. KPI is not static, its generalization and applications must adapt to changes of time and place.
