The aim of law is to "end dispute". Therefore, legal language as a carrier of law is bound to be accurate. But, in fact, vagueness legal language exists in legal language and a series of legal procedurals, such as the legislative and judicial procedurals. This article discusses the theoretical basis of the existence of vagueness in legal language from the perspective of semantics and pragmatics. And from the perspective of pragmatic, it discusses the uniqueness of f legal language, and from the perspective of semantic, it gives a classification of vagueness of legal language. Furthermore, from the perspective of pragmatics, it discusses the positive function and negative function of vagueness that exists in legal language and aims to found a more mature, standardized way of the development of legal language.This article is divided into eight chapters. In the first chapter, a comparison is made between legal language and literary language to find out the uniqueness of legal language. In Chapter two, the present situation of domestic and international researches on legal linguistics is introduced. In chapter three, the theoretical basis of vagueness in legal language is analyzed. In chapter four, the scope of application of legal language is discussed. In chapter five, classification of vagueness in legal language is given from the perspective of semantics and lexicology. in chapter six, positive function of vagueness in legal language is analyzed from the perspective of Pragmatics . In chapter seven, negative function of legal language is analyzed from the perspective of semantics. In chapter eight, this article aims to found a more mature and standardized way for legal language from the perspective of pragmatics, trying to avoid vagueness of legal language at a great extent.Making use of different branches of linguistics to found a proper application of vagueness in legal language and make legal language more accurate is the significance of this article.
